Snow Leopard presented at the WWDC 2009
Finally, the new OS X version, Snow Leopard, was presented at the WWDC 2009, and it will be available from September 2009. The first point on the presentation was the Finder, which was completely rewritten, with many advantages, starting from the icon rendering and file deletion speed. The system responsible for expelling the disks was also renewed.
The Dock also received a complete restyling, thanks to the integration of Exposé: it’s now possible to visualize the active windows of an application by simply clicking on the application icon on the Dock. The install will also be 45% faster than the previous version, but not only: after the update, users will find 6 more GB free on their hard disk.
Safari will also show many enhancements, that allow the browser to be up to 7.8 times faster than other browsers when it comes to JavaScript. Mail also seems faster and benefits, like Safari, from the general enhanced implementation of Exposé.
Quicktime has also received a new interface, and enhanced hardware acceleration capabilities and a new possibility: the HTTP streaming.
