MacBook Pro - Review - part 2
Connectivity
Like the previous MacBook Pro version, the new model also seems lacking on the connectivity part. In fact, the new model doesn’t present the old FireWire 400, due to the lack of space. The old Dual Link DVI port has been replaced by the modern mini DisplayPort that allows the connection to most part of the DVI or VGA monitors (For the VGA connection, an adapter is needed).
All the interfaces, except for the Kensington lock, are now placed on the left side of the notebook, which is no issues for right-handed users, but it could be a hassle for the left-handed. There is no docking station port in the new model either.
The Operational System Mac OS 10.4 Leopart and the iLife 2008 suite are preinstalled with this model. Apple extends the warranty on the product for 12 months. If the customer needs a longer warranty, this model presents the option for an extra €349, including support. It’s a reduction of €90 compared to the previous model. The reason behind the “discount” may be Apple’s faith in their new product.
