During yesterday’s event, Steve Job has presented the new features on the iOS 4.2, to be launched in November. The first new feature is the possibility of printing documents through network-configured printers with the Print Center feature.
AirPlay was also introduced, which allows users to share pictures, video and songs through Wi-Fi. It will be possible, for example, to listen to songs that aren’t physically present on the device, but on network systems.
The iPad will also now have the possibility of storing the applications in folders and the multitasking will be finally introduced. The update will be free for the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad platforms.

Steve Jobs and Apple have presented a series of new features and products during yesterday’s event. One of them i the new iOS 4.1, the new version of Apple’s mobile OS. This new version includes a long list of bug fixes, promising a more stable OS with some new features.
The first new feature would be the High Dynamic Range photos feature, that allows the device to overlap three different pictures, taken with different lighting. The software then adds those images, selecting the best lighting level for each one of the picture’s zones, so no area is too dark or too light.
The other new feature is Game Center, that allows users to play multiplayer games. Game Center automatically chooses the players in order to associate them with the same level.
Other new features include HD video upload through Wi-Fi, and the download of TV shows directly on the mobile device.

Apple has released the iOS 4.0.2 for the iPhone and iPod touch, and the iOS 3.2.2 for the iPad, trying to solve the PDF bugs, used by JailbreakMe in order to unlock all iOS devices. So if you have done it, better not to update.
In order to update the device, all it takes is connecting it to the PC with the USB cable and open iTunes. The update message should appear to allow users to proceed with the downloading and installation.

Apple has just released the beta 3 version of their iOS 4.1 to developers. The build is the 8B5097d, and has 599 Mb in its iPhone 4 version (only 383 Mb for the iPhone 3GS).
The new version comes together with a new SDK version as well. So far the changes seem very few compared to the Beta 2, and it’s still not sure whether the proximity sensor bug has been fixed or not.

The first benchmarks for the iPhone 4 demonstrate, as it was to be expected, that the performances are higher than the iPhone 3Gs but still inferior to the iPad. Even though both devices feature the new Apple A4 processor, the iPad works with a superior resolution (1024 x 760 against 960 x 640 pixels for the iPhone 4) and deal with only 256 MB RAM against 512 MB available for the iPhone 4.
Apple hasn’t revealed the clock frequency on the iPhone 4’s processor, and even the benchmarks cannot figure it out, but it should be slightly inferior than the iPad (1Ghz) in order to avoid overheating and allow the battery to live longer.
However, the tests were done with the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 using the iOS4, while the iPad still has the 3.2. The Geekbench 2 application registers a score of 354 for the iPhone 4 and 270 for the iPhone 3Gs, while Benchtest gives a score of 2298 to the iPhone 3GS, 2514 to the iPhone 4 and 3.367 to the iPad.

Some people have managed to receive their iPhone 4 earlier than expected in the USA, and now on YouTube we can find the first unboxing videos. It seems that those deliveries were done by mistake; indeed, some of those lucky customers haven’t managed to activate the device because the service will only be available from tomorrow on.
The package seems to be the same as usual: the Iphone, headphones with microphone included, USB cable, power supply and a small manual. We’ll leave you to the videos now, enjoy!

Apple has released iOS 4 today. The new OS is the most advanced from all the previous ones developed by Apple: 1500 new APIs for developers and more than 100 features for the final users. The multitasking is definitely one of the most important new features.
The iOS 4 is compatible with the iPhone 4, and also the iPhone 3G and second-generation of iPod Touch, but in these two cases, some features are unavailable. The installation of iOS 4 requires the version 9.2 of iTunes. Here are the links for the downloads for the different versions of devices:

After the big polemic about the iPhone 4G prototype that was found by Gizmodo (or was it bought?) and then restored to the rightful owner, new rumors and anticipations keep on coming. This time, SmartPhone Medic has published a video on Youtube where they show what could be the LCD display and the cover from the next generation of iPhones.
SmartPhone Medic is a company from South Carolina that repairs iPhone and other smartphones and it’s not the first time we see one of their previews: they had published the images that claimed to be from the new iPhone’s display, as well. It’s actually likely, in this case, that SmartPhone Medic has indeed parts of the new iPhone, as the company has spare parts in order to provide clients with a possible change to broken/malfunctioning ones.
In the video above, the iPhone seems very similar to what Gizmodo has shown. The new iPhone 4G will be presented during the WWDC in June. Rumors say that it will also be available during that month, and if that is possible, Apple must have started the manufacturing already. That would justify the presence of replacement pieces like those shown by SmartPhone Medic.

The Worldwide Developers Conference 2010 from Apple has reached “sold-out” status: all the tickets available were sold in eight days. The company has waited a long time to confirm the exact dates for the event, which were only revealed last week.
The announcement, and the price raise on the ticket ($300 more) were received as an attempt of controlling the request for places, although many of the attendees will pay more for their trip than for the ticket.
The development for the Mac OS X platform seems to be pushed to second place during this WWDC: many conferences are scheduled to speak about iPhone and iPad platforms. And it’s probable that during the event, the new iPhone 4G will be revealed.

Still more to talk about the iPhone 4G found in a bar by one of Gizmodo’s employees. If the whole story is to be believed, then we have to ask how many of those prototypes are around. Jason Chen from Gizmodo actually wonders, in fact, how come others like this haven’t been spotted before.
The answer is in the fact that Apple disguises the prototypes rather well. There are probably more of these around, being tested by Apple employees, but they can’t be recognized. One of the blurry points on the story was how the iPhone 4G was disguised. The prototype was wrapped in a black plastic cover, adapted to the phone in order not to catch too much attention. The prototype looked like a standard iPhone, with a scratched cover. Once the cover is removed, the plastic pieces covering the on/off, volume and mute buttons come off.
The solution seems rather smart, since the cover looks like one for the old iPhone. Also, the iPhone covers are generally smooth, like this one, and hence one will not pay attention to the fact that the size isn’t quite like the 3GS. The video above shows the process of uncovering the disguised iPhone 4G.
